Do Not Stunt the Spiritual Growth of Your Family

by Ben Trueblood | August 21, 2018

At the 2017 ETCH Conference in Nashville, TN, Director of Lifeway Students, Ben Trueblood, shares about the primacy of the Word of God in the transformation of children and students.

“When a child grows up in a church and they move through student ministry and they know a selection of stories very, very well, but they’ve not truly encountered the God of the whole Bible, then they leave our ministries with a crippled faith.”

“The growth of our children and students’ faith is stunted by the chapters of the Bible we leave closed, the books of the Bible we leave unopened.”

“We must, as people who are making disciples of children and teens, we must give them the only thing that will increase and grow their faith—and that’s not our clever stories or funny anecdotes—it is God’s Word in its entirety.”

“When we expose our children and teens to the entirety of God’s Word, they begin to understand that God is not far off, sometimes dipping into stories to do something cool and then returning to heaven.”

“When we encounter all of God’s Word, we begin to see that God is active in his goodness.”

“Your mind is transformed by God’s Word so that you can understand what God’s will is.”
