“Are you feeling weak? Just imagine yourself strong.” In this video from the Bible study, Stronger: Finding Hope in Fragile Places, Bible teacher, speaker, and author, Angela Thomas-Pharr, explains why this is bad advice because we cannot be strong apart from the strength we receive from following Jesus Christ.
The entire video is above, and the complete transcript is below.
If you are walking toward eternity without the Lord, if you are walking toward eternity without Jesus Christ, there is no strength.
You can make something up for a day or two. You can buy in, pull yourself up by your bootstraps. You can totally buy into, “I can be strong. I can think myself strong. I can imagine myself strong. I see myself as strong, therefore I am.”
You can totally buy in, but do you know how long that stuff lasts in the heart and soul of every man and woman that I’ve ever known? That is why they publish new magazines every month that say the same thing. Because it runs out by the time the next magazine comes out.
You gonna need a new little booster of imagining yourself strong, because there is no strength on this earth for those who walk toward eternity apart from Jesus Christ.
