Job and His Redeemer

by Lisa Harper | August 7, 2018

At an Abundance event in Mississippi earlier this year, storyteller, Bible teacher, and author, Lisa Harper, shared about Job, his difficulty, and his hope for a Redeemer.

“Difficulty is not God’s discipline in a punitive way. More often than not, it’s a promotion. It’s Him saying, ‘I believe that the way she’s gonna walk this out is going to bring me glory.'”

“It sounds like Job is smoking something medicinal if you don’t understand that we have a Trinitarian God.”

“A thousand years before we see Christ, Job says, ‘He’s comin’. My Go’el is comin’ and he’s gonna stand in the gap between me and God.'”

“Go’el Jesus comes on to the scene and shrugs into an orange jumpsuit meant for us and says, ‘I love her so much that I’m going to redeem her story.'”

About Lisa Harper

Lisa Harper is a master storyteller with a masters of Theological Studies from Covenant Seminary. She’s lauded as an engaging, hilarious communicator as well as an authentic and substantive Bible teacher. She’s been in vocational ministry for thirty years and has written fifteen books and Bible study curriculums but says her greatest accomplishment by far is that of becoming Missy’s (her adopted daughter from Haiti) mama! They live on a hilly farmette south of Nashville, Tennessee, where they enjoy eating copious amounts of chips, queso, and guacamole. And then diving in the pool immediately afterwards instead of dutifully waiting the recommended thirty minutes.
